The past couple days have been spent doing something that I’m not very good at doing…nothing. Alicia and I were trying to figure out where to go for the weekend when she came across a private campground that offered us a free weekend if we went through a short sales pitch. We decided why not and spent the weekend in Gettysburg, PA. While Alicia was talking to the place on the phone, they were describing everything they had and she was rattling off item after item. To be honest, I wasn’t really paying attention since I was driving and I’m not very good at doingRead More →

Here’s the deal, I don’t like paying tolls. I’m sure there are many people out there like me who feel that you should be able to get around a city or across a bridge without taking out a second mortgage. Wookiee has a very different sentiment, she loves them. In fact, out of all things that we do in the truck, tolls have to be right up there with the best of them. The reason, I see them as a negative, she expects them to be a positive experience. Her reasoning comes from the fact that quite a few toll booths lately have noticed herRead More →

Last week I was performing in Hoboken, NJ. On my schedule it listed the school as a Middle School, but when I showed up I found that it was an alternative High School. In case you’re not aware of the implications of ‘alternative’ usually it means kids that were not quite up to par with behavior in public schools (they got kicked out) and in the case of inner city public schools, these are rough kids. I hauled all my stuff up 2 flights of stairs and started setting up. The vice principal came in, introduced himself and gave me one of the best pep-talksRead More →

I love hate New York City. From the people that I’ve talked with over the years, you either love it or hate it. Nobody seems content to be ‘ok’ with it. To help you understand why I’m so put off by it, let me give you a run through of just 2 days that I had over the last week. I got up at 4 AM and dropped Alicia off at JFK. This was probably the only time I’ve ever seen ‘little’ traffic on the side streets. I would have preferred to take the parkway, but I’m not allowed. My truck is too big andRead More →

In case you haven’t seen my show before, one of the highlights is the glow-in-the-dark finale. Obviously this requires a very dark room for it to look the best. This isn’t too much of a problem at most churches, but schools are a different matter entirely. Many have loads of windows and the show is in the middle of the day. If this happens, I just skip that part and end with a very cool freestyle, the kids don’t know they missed anything and the circle of life goes on. Not too long ago I was performing at a private school somewhere in Indiana. IRead More →
